Hi everyone
This may be a silly question but...... can you put to much oxygen into your pond??.
My pond is 5m x 2m x 1m deep which is about 10,000 litres. I am running an air unit which produces 4500 LPH with 2 x 100mm air bricks in the pond & 2 x 50mm air bricks in my filters which are left on 24hrs.
After the heat wave we experienced last year I was thinking of adding another air brick to the pond as my thinking is more air in the pond the better !!!! Am I doin the right thing ?

I used to run a huge air pump in my arizona pond, all of the time, never bothered the fish. Here in Maryland I don't run one, but I have 4 waterfalls going into the pond. I don't think it would hurt in the summer, but in the winter you would not to run a lot of air.

Ye im only thinking of running extra air in the summer. In the winter I throttle back the air and move both air bricks to one end of the pond as not to disturb all the water ;)

You definitely want to run sufficiant oxygen! But the real answer is yes, there is a point when you have TOO much oxygen in the water. It's called hyper-saturation. Rarely does it happen, but it can. If you hold your hand under water up to your elbow, and see small bubbles develop over your sking, you have too much. It' stresses the fish out, by bothering their skin too! When their skin is bothered and doesn't keep a good slime coat on it, it allows bacterias and parasites to attach. Their gills will also be bothered. Again, it's rare, but it can happen.

I put my heater over my water pump in the winter .But this year I will have to figure out which to use water pump or my new aerator .I guess it will all depend on the winter we get .But my new laguna air pump really does put out the air .Have to get more of this type air stone that came with it because it sure does put out air .Nothing but air stone in the lotus pond and you can see shells on the bottom .The waterfall pond is also clear with the air stone in it

I need to add some extra air, its so hot here all the time. Any recommendation for a good air stone - something off Amazon would be easiest for me.
