What am I missing here? When I first make a post it gives me the option of editing it. Once it's been posted for a while it can't be edited. So when I write gasoline and mean vasoline there seems to be no going back.

@mgmine I laugh because I understand and am right there with you!

Very good question! It’s always been like that, but wonder if that is a change the Admin @Ian can address.

The edit time is limited. Just for correcting typos. If changes are made later, the information could get missed. Better to just post the correction.

It is limited so the number of people that have read the thread won't miss the edit. Almost all of the forums I am on have the same time limit.

@addy1 That’s good to know! Figured there had to be a logical rationale. Yes, FaceBook allows edits and I have wondered about that, when you THOUGHT you read something, but when you go back, it reads different from what you remember. What I do in FB is put “EDIT” or “UPDATE” if I change anything. I hate to feel like I’m being gaslighted, LOL!

Yep, it's for the reasons mentioned above, but also because spammers sometimes edit old posts to add links or spam in to - and because the post may be a week old, it gets missed until someone falls for it.

IIRC, the time limit is about 2 hours at the moment :).

I am a new member and not long after I joined my long-time photo host went MIA (later confirmed to be KIA). So a few unimportant photos in my introductory post have evaporated and cannot be reposted. Minor annoyance in the great scheme of things.
Best wishes. Dave

Hi Dave, yep it's a pain when that happens - there's an attachments system on here which means that they'll always be visible in your post. If you want, you could upload the photos again as attachments to a reply in this post and I'll edit them in manually to your intro post?

Thank you, Ian. Not necessary, I was just chiming in.;)
