Oh-oh. Maybe it was a skunk and not a raccoon? I smelled a skunk this morning. Does anyone know if skunks go after fish?

I think skunks will eat pretty much anything, including fish, but I can't envision them being able to actually catch a healthy one. He could have been hunting around for frogs or toads, though. I'd still vote 'raccoon' for the culprit who trashed the pond.

Your Koi don't bother your water lilies also are your water lilies high maintenance. I read somewhere that you have to cut the dead pads off a lot and that they die off frequently and new ones come in.

Hi Landman. My koi don't bother the lily pads. However, they do like to root around the potted tubers and I find kitty litter at the bottom of my pond. I don't think the water lilies are that high maintenance. Of course, I only fertilize mine once in the spring and do cut off the yellowing pads.

I think all this heat is making me even tireder! We are not used to all this 80 degree stuff over here every day.

I hate to admit it, but I dreaded trying to work around the pond in this summer's heat. I loved Spring and am now looking forward to cooler weather.

Same here we are still hitting the 90's. This july was the hottest on record. And we sure felt it. I was house bound most of the month and even in August.
