Not exactly pond related, more landscaping around the pond, but I was looking buying a mixer because, well, quite frankly, I hate mixing cement by hand in the wheelbarrel, or in a tarp.

But I found this article on the internet, and I plan to try to make something very similar, not quite the same, from junk I have laying around the house. Here is the article for now, but I will post pictures of my build when I do it too. Figured as we all have ponds, there are probably a lot of people around here who have wished they had a concrete mixer while working on a project.

What I do with tools is buy a top of the line contractor type off Craig's List, use it, and then sell it on Craig's List. Generally break even, some times even make a few bucks and I get to use a great tool. Help's to be in a big city though.

I'm the opposite, I buy tools and I keep them forever.... thats why we cant park our cars in the garage :) barely even enough room for my motorcycle.

Have I used paint guns, or had a need for two air compressors, or my welder more than 5 times in the past 5 years... nope, but when I need it, its right there and I don't have to stop what I'm doing.
funny thing about tools, when i had my truck and was always working on it, tweaking things, replacing parts, i swear i had to drive out to the shop every weekend to use the welder, so i finally bought a small one for my house, and now I never need it.

I did check my are for one on CL though... Only one, and the ad was over a month old.

Unable to view the link right now, but do agree about using a cement mixer!! A few weeks ago I rented one from HOME DEPOT for 24 hours. Definitely the way to go for a project of any size!

Clever idea 99. Was it you who bought the mower that you had to engage the lever to go in reverse each time to back up? If so did you ever figure out how to rig it so you don't have to do that?

I've been so busy with other things... and I havent had to mow my lawn with this heat, so I haven't even bothered to take it apart yet, found wiring diagram, know exactly what needs to be done... just havent done it yet.

Hopeing i can get this thing built this weekend, but birthday party on saturday, and bif get together with friends and family on sunday. hopefully i can fit in in somewhere.

The real question is can the cement mixer be able to be modified into a new type of bio filter...

fill it with water, get it spinning, keep pumping new water into in and it overflows out the front. Maybe not filtration... but shaking the heck outta it would definatly provide some aeration.
