I inherited a small plastic lined pond approx 7ft x 4ft with 5 small Koi and Goldfish. I had no problems for the first 2 years but now the filters in my Pondtech pump are constantly blocking up with a thick green mud. I have to clean the filters every 3 to 4 weeks. I have changed the 9watt UV light in the pump 4 times in the 3 years I have had the pond. Has anybody any ideas on how to stop this mud forming on the filters.

Fish grow, especially koi. Too much poop, too little space for them now. Nutrients keep building up. Only way to stop is to build a bigger pond or give away the koi. Koi need about 1000 gals appx each per fish.
