Hello from western (dry) Colorado. My pond is in the back yard in a terrible dry dirt desert created by the grasshopper plague. Used to be many small flower beds scattered around the 1/5 acre yard.Pond is 10X14 3deep and is beautiful--Finally got the balance right to clear the algae and give me clear water. I live 3 miles from a natural heron rookery. Except for one encounter about 5 years ago have only received a few threats. My next project is to take my waterfall apart and insert a spillway. My primary filter system is "the barrell" Also have a skimmer with pump to feed the waterfall and a small rubber bog to add more aeration and a place for plants.
