Hello all! Pardon all these words!

I currently have a 900 gallon outdoor pond with a liner and rocks and all that jazz. In its second year, last year I really just did plants with 3 guppies for mosquitos in the summer and took them out in the winter. My intentions are a wildlife pond with low fish load and lots of plants. I have a very low flow solar setup right now with the intentions of upping my game this year to better oxygenate and help with all this algae! I really want to run with Ozponds "bog in a barrel" design, that will have about a 4-5 ft lift from the pump. I already have the barrel started I just didn't commit last year to filling it with too much media as I know I will be changing the piping around. Now on the "issue" which I am putting in quotes because I don't want to sound ungrateful for my friends immense generosity, but it has put me in a pickle. I should note that I am quite far away from any electrical and I really want to learn solar, despite it currently hurting my brain. I have zero experience with electrical (friend has some) and have a much more creative brain haha

I was planning on buying a contained system that was easy to put together (something like a PondMax Kit, just as an example), because I am a 5th grader here and wanted to ease my way into solar systems. My friend heard this and proceeded to give me 2 separate 100 W solar panels and a Victron MTTP charge controller 75/15 that he had from a previous project. He also recommended that I buy a 12.8V 100Ah Lithium-ion battery which I did because it was on sale. We have been discussing thoroughly what to get to make this work and it has done nothing but give me a headache, and he now seems unsure as well how to connect all the pieces.

It was originally going to be a strictly 12V system, but that seemed to really limit pump options. Then he introduced the idea of a booster to get it to 24V, but this seems to still limit my pump options in case I wanted something that can handle debris, even though I absolutely will be creating a pump filter basket for whatever I buy. So then we started talking about using an inverter which opens me up to AC pumps, but this seems to be even more complicated in terms of wiring. So we started talking about getting a second battery to help with the load but now I'm reading that my solar panels might not be enough for two batteries. On top of all of this, I am unsure how to tell which pumps can actually produce anything near 900 GPH with the lift I have to the bog filter. Some include a maximum lift chart, many do not, and they all want my money!

ANY information is helpful, I am a newbie here. What do you gurus recommend?

Not that it matters bc no one seems to care :( but we settled on two 100w solar panels into the charge controller into a Victron MTTP charge controller into 1 12.8v battery with a 24V booster into a DCW Jebao 900GPH brushless pump. So wish me luck!

Not that no one cares but that no one has relevant experience to help. Occasionally someone swings by that has a bit of knowledge on solar but no regulars that I know of. Let us know how your solution works, listing the equipment used as you have done helps increase the knowledge archive on the forum. Hope it works as planned.

I watch some U-tubers on tv that are Rv'rs and they use solar for everything. Most are nomad all year users. If you have sun you can use solar. They have lots of recommendations for how to do it and what things to use. Of course they aren't using it to run a pond. I myself don't use solar but I see that it works fine for them. Would be interesting and informative to see how you do it so please let us know so we can help others.

Don't feel ignored. I, too, am interested in solar applications for pumps. As others have stated, and you found out, here's not much out there.
