Connecting Filter, Pumps, Skimmers, and Bottom Drains

Hey, I'm new to this hobby and I need guidance.

I want to start building a koi pond, but I don't really have a clue about connecting wise. Do I connect the pump and filter together?
Skimmer? Drains? someone please help this noob. Would greatly appreciate it! :)
