I agree with @sissy if you want to go slow on cost and dream it out from there get your self a laguna submersible pump and some flex piping and start from there and dream and imagine. I have a laguna that was imho completely clogged but i never knew till i pulled it to drain my pond after i missed timed the leaf netting.

declor the water vie time or product. if you want to shoe string it time with new pump and hose and work it out from there.

with a pool imho you have alot of time to day dream etc to get it where you want unlike those of us who have to dig ours.

On a shoestring budget; can I use an existing pool pump for a goldfish pond?
I converted my 15,000 gal swimming pool to a koi pond many years ago. I had nothing but bad luck and failure until I broke down and bought the correct pump/filtration system that was designed for the purpose of keeping fish alive and healthy. Sand filters design for swimming pools are useless for fish ponds.

Sand filters are to fine for the pond debris.

True. While sand filters can filter out debris to an extent, there is little to no biological activity to speak of, which makes them pretty much useless as far as converting ammonia and nitrates. Despite starting out with a small fish population in a very large body of water, my newly converted swimming pool quickly turned into pea soup and stayed that way until I installed the proper filtration system. It was expensive when I did it, but over the years it has been the best money I ever spent on my pond.
