This year I have had 2 moles, 2 chipmunks and 1 baby rabbit drown in my small, but deep pond. I have created a black, plastic net escape bridge and mounted it on the side to serve as a ladder to get out. So far, the baby bunny didn't figure it out. In other summers, I have also found floating box turtles, but they would probably not crawl up the bridge escape? Have you devised such an escape route? I mean, I HATE going out to gaze at my pond and finding dead fauna; too sad!

thats a good idea. We've gotten a box turtle but luckily we saw it before too long. And then we have a few robin babies. I like the ramp idea!

I took some matala filter material, cut a decent size square. Made a frame so it hung a few inches below the water like a shelf. The frogs love it. I have not had any turtles fall in since I built it.

My two stock tanks would be what they would get stuck in, all else they can get out.

I think @addy 's idea is good, a shelf slightly under water....maybe have both, a ramp and a shelf? We had two baby blue birds fledge and drown in our swimming pool....took me two days to stop crying :(
