I bought some EDPM liner many years ago, used a small bit of it, and the rest of it is now being deployed, but it sure does stink. Kindof like old smelly pond, not pleasant to be next to. The liner was sitting in a big plastic tub, sort of exposed to the elements, and some leaf and rain debris, and some creepy crawlies got on it and sat there for years. Any ideas on the best way to deodorize it? It's now sitting in a new pond depression, has some water in it as I make the pond, but I need to clean it and rinse it. Bleach?

If it is really foul and not too cumbersome, I would lay it out in the driveway and gently use a scrub brush on it. Hose off all of the crud. Yeah, you can also use some diluted bleach if necessary. Just rinse it well.

No need to go over board. Like was suggested layers it out on the lawn /driveway anywhere clear of anything that may damage the liner. Hose ot off and use a scrub brush just to remove the crud. It does not need to be clean but get rid of the heavy stuff. Leave it out in the sun for a day no more than that if it's on the lawn . And simply fold it up

The liner has never been used, no crud, just a thin layer of dust. I think, years ago, I had laid it out, then rolled it up somewhat damp, and that residual moisture and a bit of dirt slowly aged into a what it is now. I have it in the new pond hole, but most of it is easy enough to clean, maybe with a big flat mop thing that is made of soft fabric. I haven't ever tried to deodorize a liner, so not sure what bleach might do to it, but dilute sounds like a plan. I have a big sump pump I can remove all the water as it sits in the hole (it's a bit unwieldy to move with all the obstacles in my yard, so I'll leave it in place).

Thanks for suggestions.
