Hi all,
I have an established pond in the back garden with approx 40 fish varying from 10cm to 20cm, and ome of them is very fat.

It has been like this since we moved in about a year ago, but i thinking it may be getting even fatter!

The fish swims about, and is eating fine. It put up a fight when we netted it, so seems absolutely fine apart from the size. It does not have pineconing scales.

Pics attached, and any suggestions welcome.

Thanks 20170610_124508.jpg 20170610_124547.jpg

Wow ! IMO she's either egg bound or has a tumor. It kind of looks like her left side is bigger then her right side, but it could be the angle of the picture.

If she were mine, as long as she's eating and not suffering, I'd just keep an eye on her. She also appears to have a scarred area on her right side, perhaps from a previous ulcer or scrape.

I was thinking exactly the same thing! She looks symmetrical to me [again, camera angle, pressure from holding her......?], so I would say egg bound. But either way, as @Tula said, as long as she's comfortable and eating, just keep an eye on her.

I think this is referred to as stripping their eggs. From my understanding, best left to a professional and if if she's not egg bound, could cause damage.
