I know the basics of it like taking extra care not to break the growth points. But when dividing, do I just cut from the joints(the black part in between each tuner) or just cut anywhere through the tuber? And after dividing, can I put several back in one pot at the same time? It is probably about 16 in wide or so

I cut through the tuber leaving 2-3 growing tips (the end of the mass of tubers). And I do put two in my pot in case I mess up one. And my pot is probably 24-26" across.

So there was already new growth but I decided to take the risk anyway seeing how root bound it was. I ended up dividing into about 12 pieces. I don’t believe I damaged any of its shoots.. I hope I didn’t screw anything up. Going to be potting them up soon, definitely don’t have enough pots for all 12 and definitely not all 12 in my 15ft pond! Idk what to do with them.
