Take a look at plans for small gold dredge power jets. I've thought about doing this myself. Somewhere around here, in my file cabinet, are plans for 1 1/2" and 2" designs. It should be pretty easy to make one out of PVC pipe.

Unless you have a tiny pond or very very high water pressure save your time and money. You can buy one for $10 dollars and they work as well as something that cost $10 dollars should work.

Many tks - I have both tiny pond (approx 1500 litres) and high water pressure, so no problem there. Real problem is that I'm in South Africa and none of the items are available here - importing not an option so back to DIY - all I need is a proper diagram of a workable hose driven venturi vac - would appreciate any help with this.
