I have a small pool that has a single line to the pump pad, so I'm limited (without spending $$$$$ to bust-up/replace concrete) on the lines to/from the filter pad, but here's the general design for C&C:

I'm looking around for media, one idea I had was the evap cooler pads, but haven't checked them out myself. A couple other ideas include investigating these:

from E-Bay (Pack of 5 for 17.99 plus shipping, and I can get them in varous sizes and meshes...) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...cY_BIN_Stores_IT&itemcount=4&salenotsupported

Also looking at these (more "skippy-ish"):

actually the floor scrubber pads are what are in a skippy filter but they are cheaper to buy from the skippy sight, and they are already cut up,and mixed.

I'm trying to find an in-expensive solution for filling ~2' of 2 barrels with media for less than $50... so far I'm stumped.

I got stumped too. Took me $50 to fill up one barrel with scrub pads.. I have 3 55G barrels hooked up... 1 is mechanical poly type fill and 2 and 3 are full of scrub pads.

It's rolled up type poly. Actually used for something else. Not sure how to explain it in one word so here's the description. When you go fabric stores and their huge roles of fabric gets dwindled down, they may wrap this poly stuff around the roll to make it look fatter. My buddy gave me a whole wad of this stuff.... Go to this thread for pics: post 34 and 35 https://www.gardenpondforum.com/my-basement-pond-t3120p4.html

Been using it for my reef tank for years. Thought I had lifetime supply until I stuck it in 55G barrel.
