Do I have to worry about large birds like hawks eating my koi or should I make an enclosure for my pond.

In short yes, mostly herons are going to eat your fish, but so will other birds of prey.

If you have any type of preditory bird- putting a net over your pond is the easiest way to protect your koi.

I would advise it and have done so myself with putting up a high wide weave net on poles. Otherwise my fish would be no more!

or you can do like I did for the most treacherous of all predators, the mosquito
