Fertilizer Tablets

I bought some fertilizer tablets for my water lilies but the directions are vague. I know to push them into the soil but I was wondering if I have to take the lilies out and push it in out of water or if I can push it right down in while they're underwater. What I mean is that I don't know if the tablets having direct contact with the water would be an issue even if just for a couple seconds.

I just push the tab into the kitty litter as deep as it will go .

You don't have to take the lilies out of the water. Be sure not to get the remaining tabs wet.

I just used to push them into the pot. This year I worked Osamacote into the kitty litter.
