The following formula will assist you in determining how much you will spend (approximately) per month to run the pump you select....(or other equipment)

FORMULA =

* Amps x Volts = Watts......(if your pump doesnt give watts rating)
* Watts x 744 and divide by 1000 = KWH per month
* KWH per month x Cost per KWH (located on your electric bill) = Cost per month

You can also buy a "KillaWatt' and get direct actual readings. It has many functions that take the math out of it. DoDad and I both have them. The nice thing about having the inline reading is to see if everything is performing to spec. A pump that is going out, may have excessive current draw.

I agree, however it is a nice device to have to see what your current stuff is doing. Advertised specifications are not always accurate.

Just to clarify, in case anyone else doesn't see where the 744 comes from (I had to do the math because the numbers didn't make sense right away to me)...

24 hours/day * 31 days/month = 744 WattHours/month

And if you're lazy like me and want to save another step:
Watts * 0.744 = KWH
