Filter worms

Last year I installed an Oasis waterfall filter to supplement my pressure filter. When cleaning out the new filter this spring, the filter media was filled with hundreds of small worms. They look like small earth worms, 1/4 inch to four inches long. They obviously thrived in the filter environment.
Questions are-
1- Are they good, neutral, or bad for the good bacteria in the filter?
2- Any concerns effecting the Koi?
3- Is this normal?

Did a search of the forums, but didn't find anything.

Thanks

1 They have no effect on the bacteria in the filter.
2. Nope, consider them free food.
3. Yes, while these worms aren’t in my filter pads, they are in the roots of the plants in my pond and bog.
