Okay, a couple of weeks ago my micro pond became home to 3 comet goldies, courtesy of a neighbor. I have been feeding them every evening, only a small amount and they never came up to eat while I was there. I figured either they ate after I left or it sank and the snails (thank you pond plants, LOL) and fish ate it down below. I tested the water yesterday and it was ammonia 0, nitrates 0 and nitrites .1, so I wasn't worried about a tiny amount of food left. They have also gnawed on the water hyacinth fleshy stems and ate all of the roots off the water poppies. Not to mention I found a totally empty snail shell floating.

I was getting depressed that the only times I saw them was when I removed the solar fountain, or floating plants so I could see unobstructed to the bottom. Tonight when I fed them, all three dashed to the surface and scarfed the food. Definitely made me smile.

It took over a year before my fish would come up for food. I actually thought I had lost the first three, but when I got six more the first three came up to say hello.

Visibility has fortunately improved since those days! And also the fish are very happy to be fed every day now.
