My fish decided to have babies. I don't have a clue what kind of mutts they are.

I have:

1 Koi
1 Subunkin
3 Small feeder gold fish
1 White goldfish
1 Orama (probably misspelled) goldfish. My son calls this one wiggly butt..

I was feeding the adult fish and peeking out from under the Lilly pads were 3 or 4 white little fish. About a quarter of a inch long.

I'll try to get a photo tomorrow. That will be fun...

Just thought I'd share..

Phil

P.S. I do have a frog in the pond. It may eat the little ones. Only time will tell.

Congrats! It sounds like the shubunkin and white goldfish may be the proud parents. You may want to throw in some plants with a lot of roots and small leaves so they have a place to hide if you don't have that going on already.

Very cute! Looks like a happy pond for them to grow in, with lots of nice pond plants.

shubunken goldfish fry . gf has rounded compact body and longer tail .
they are all same the single tailed kind of comet category , just difference of colour , i call them all shubunkens , but white one is sub category called sarasa but this one is without red marks . so probably its there fry combined genes

koi fry are very cylindrical slim long ,koi dont breed easily and it happens after they are very mature few years

I have about 8 that are black that look like minnows. Hopefully they will change colors.
Congrats on the baby fish. They will change color. Not sure why but I get some that start black and others are orange from the start. It's interesting watching the color changes over time. Some change earlier than others. It's a mystery to me

I just checked my water with my test kit since we have babies.

PH: 7.6
Ammonia: 0.25
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 0

I guess my biological filter is working. Should I be concerned with the Ammonia level?

Thanks

Phil

Yes it's not good.

We need more info.

How big the pond gallon wise and what filter do you have? How fast is the filter pump?

Also how did you test this? The strips?
