Ok so I went to this Koi place and they are selling catfish which I bought 1 and the guy said no problem to keep with koi but he also had these fish he said were imported from china (sharks) so friggen kool can cohabitate with koi in my area what other cool fish area good with koi any info on that shark what it might be?

Can you you put the banded shark in a outdoor pond? I thought they are tropical.

youd have to winter it indoors is all if its tropical. i have pycosimus's in my pond. and im zone 5

I thought pleco and koi was a bad mix? Something about them being attracted to the slime coating of koi and goldfish.
The banded shark is actually more cold hearty than the plecos. Only problem is they're expensive and hard to find! I wish I could find one localy! Central PA.

You are right, they are not sharks. They are in the loach family actually... are hardy... and can get as large as most koi! BUT... they lose much of the high fin and almost all the cool coloring when they get large.
