Just finished a bog filter in a 70 gallon stock tank.Built it like a Birdman filter with a grate and air purge on the bottom, then some large gravel with about 14" of fine pea gravel.
The pond has never been so clean. I used to not filter it and had a few cheap goldfish to keep the bugs down. I pulled all the plants and split them up, all where root bound in the pots. The pond was a mess so I bailed out most of the water and then let the filter go to work. The pond now looks so much larger and I can actually see the fish when they do not hide. Cant wait to build the new large pond in upper section and move on to some Koi. My big worry is the winter and not being here as we winter in AZ.

That is a nice build. Not sure how to tell you to deal with winter there.

I love my bog filter, never need to worry about the pond water it stays perfect, clean, clear.
