Flow control valve unit Problems on Laguna MaxFlo Pond Pump

I have had a fish pond for over 30 years. I have two ponds. A upper pond with a stream flowing into lower pond. I had a Laguna pump pond for 18 years with no issues whatsoever. Finally wore out. I replaced it with a Laguna Max Flow last spring.I winter my fish indoors. The pump is taken in in Late fall, thoroughly cleaned and stored inside.
My new pump has flow control valves that are almost impossible to adjust. Contacted Laguna and they sent me a fish safe lubricant which my husband applied. I have an exterior filtering system that keeps my water quality clean and safe for my fish without having to use other water treatments. Managed to get a small stream from upper pond but with heavy rains I always turn the valve up to clear water quickly. We had heavy rainfall overnight so wanted to increase flow through external filtering system that to clear water quickly. Cannot move the flow control valve at all. Have contacted Laguna to see what can be done to solve this issue. Anyone else have this issue? Will they send me a new valve unit or replace the pump I have which could be defective or am I out of luck and have to get and pay for a new pump. Guess I will have to wait and see.

My pond this morning is milky from runoff of limestone from heavy rains overnight.I only have two large Sunbunkins the pond. Can’t clear water quickly due to not being able to increase flow from external filtering system to clear. Cannot even see the fish. Will they survive.? i have had these fish for 6 years and they are very healthy. The upper pond is clear but can’t get the fish out to transfer them.

Yes @GBBUDD I do have Laguna pumps but I do not have any that allow adjustment of flow w/valves.

@Pond Loon show us a photo of your pond set up and I agree a berm works nicely to keep runoff from entering ones pond.

I have several, and I sold them for at least 15 years. I have never seen a MaxFlo with a flow valve!
