So I pulled fry out this year for the first time and have a few...weirdos. So I just wanted to ask yall with experience if you've ever seen any like these 2 in particular. First guy has what I call a triple tail. He has 3 separate tail fins. Two longer ones on bottom and one short one on top. Not a fan tail. His tail looks like those Spears that people use for spear fishing. Second one is just FAT. Since I pulled him out about a month ago he has been this round little ball with fins. I though maybe he was sick, constipated, dropsy something like that but he's been this way for a month. And he's so active and has a great appetite. No round bodies fish in the pond, I have comet, fancies, shibunkin, koi.

Fish tend to produce lots of anomalies. Those fry are ones that would be culled in a commercial operation. Some just don't survive because the "differences" make it hard for them to get food or swim. Yours are lucky to have been born in your pond!

They're lucky I'm a big ole softy:LOL: I can't do this again next year cause now I'm attached to 36 babies that I don't have room for.

Will be interesting to see what they look like when they are older.........:)
Oh yes, I'm so interested in what my little fat baby will look like. Maybe his body will be kind of like a ranchu? The picture really doesn't show how round he is!

Name him Chubbs.......;)
Oh that's cute! My son and I we're talking yesterday about what to name the ones were keeping. We decided on Trip for the "triple tail", Chubbs would be good for him, now just name for the fantails.

Chubby little Chubbs is doing great! As well as his siblings, Trip the 3 tailed fishy, and Fanny and Mae the fantails. They'll be my back deck container pond fish. It's funny because he's the most oddly shaped but he's also the bravest, always swimming about, never afraid of me!

Fascinated by the triple tail. Keep giving updates on that one!

I've been trying to get a good pic of that little boogers tail for a while, but he's still just so small. So I drew a high quality, super artistic pic:ROFLMAO: Like I've said, it's like 3 prongs, and the top fin is shorter. We initially thought his tail had been injured.
