I have 2 ghost koi(I think) that have grown too large for my small pond, I would like to pass them on to someone with a larger pond. Any suggestions please?

I am in Plymouth.

Oh my... that's not good.

Plymouth as in the UK? Do you have pond shops near by? Anyone who sells koi might be able to help you out. Do you use anything like Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, etc there where you could post looking for a new home? You need to find a new home for those two beauties before it's too late.

If you don't find a place to re-home them, you could look up Mark Wilson - The Pond Advisor. He is an Aquascape Pond Contractor in the UK. His business is called Any Pond, I believe. His Facebook information says he is in Daventry, Northamptonshire - but I imagine he has contacts throughout the UK.
We also have group members in the UK - maybe someone is near you and has a large pond!
Good luck!

@Steveqae

I just looked and there is a Nextdoor.com site that a lot of people that belong to it all over the place. You can join and give away things or buy, see what's going on in your hood etc. Here is the link and yes I see the U.K is among the choices. Just choose the place nearest to you that you want to join. I found some of my goldfish for free on there many years ago. You can ask for things, that's how I found the fish.

I see Plymouth is on the list!

Thanks for all your advice. I am a moderator for our local Freecycle group and we do not allow animals, I cannot be seen to break the rules. I am also a Lead member of the local Nextdoor group, I was hoping to find a specialist rather than asking anyone but it looks like I will have to try that

Dang! Wishing I lived a few thousand miles away so I could pick up those beauties.

I agree with suggestions posted here, some pond stores may even give you store credit that you could use on plants and goldfish.

hi @Steveqae there is a web site called Aquarist-classified which is uk based where you can offer for free and depending on quality people may pay best offering for free to get rid of these fish. Only thing is this time of year people not really looking for fish but the site also has people who will rehome your fish normally for free or a small charge, good luck in finding those two beauties a new home. hope this helps cheers mark

and I'd be very careful with any cold weather transfer as the fish are going to be more vulnerable. Keeping the same temp and moving slowly, carefully so as to disturb then the least, will give the fish a chance.
