Okay….. I was doing my mid summer haircut on my pond plants….. it was so over grown that you couldn’t see the pond except at one end. I found 5 little tree frogs on the stuff I cut out….. I had to physically remove them from the leaf, they were not leaving. All were put back on plants that were staying……….but a word of caution, I am in zone 7 and red wasps love to build nests on the back of elephant ears leaves…. And they were not happy at all that I was disturbing there nest…… thankfully I am not allergic to them, other than hurting like the devil, got popped twice….. LoL

I’d never seen a wasp on elephant ear leaves. Thanks for that tip. I’ll be more careful now.
I have learned to live in harmony with all of the wasps, bees, flies, and butterflies. Last year yellow jackets … the ones that typically nest in the ground and can be VERY aggressive … nested in a decorative birdhouse (hole too small for a bird). I told them, leave me alone and I’ll leave you alone. They did, so I did, even though they were 4’ from the hose reel I used almost daily.
This year yellow jackets were in another garden decor object, 5’ from the back door. One came out and stung me, so their nest got sprayed. I won’t have aggressive bees/wasps in my yard. The sting hurt really bad for less than 10 minutes, then starting itching like the dickens the following day. But I’m not allergic so just had a red welt for about a week and now it’s mostly gone.

I have seen them on the bottom of banana leaves before, like you I have never seen them on elephant ears, would have thought that they would move around too much for them
