Unfortunately i'm not completely done. the two ends of the pond both have some work to do .One being setting the skimmer to the proper depth. Completing the cinder block wall toward the garage . Back filling behind the cinder block, and pouring a cap in the areas where there is not going to be a planter. The reason i'm installing the liner before I am all done is APRIL SHOWERS I started off with an 8 foot deep excavation and I am at about 5'-6" due to starting the dig days before x mass. Well before the pond is washed in to 3' deep i'm getting the liner in and I will just peal back the rubber so I can finish. But it feels good !

Hey you did it! Boy I bet those huge liners are quite heavy to say the least! Enjoy your ride and I'm off on my bike too for a nice ride in the sunshine we never hardly ever get. No Harley but it gets me where I'm going

There's a lot to be said for a rectangular shaped pond. the amount of overlap and basically waste is crazy in the shape that I have. Well here are some pictures from the undertaking of installing the liner the liner is over sized as I wanted to be able to have overlaps on all four sides for securing the rubber or creating damns keeping water from leaching into or under the pond. And lastly enough material to create the second pond/ pool a foot higher .[

12 hour days leave little time for the pond . Still working on cleaning up after last weeks mini marathon. But I was able to pick up the last part needed for my DYI centipede. As previous photos have shown I am going to be using plastic storm drain and cutting slots into the sides of the pipe similar to the 2" pvc bog but this pipe is 24" x 10' long I am leaning toward spending the money and getting a few aquablox to make as large of a settlement chamber as I can. unfortunately in order to do this I need to build a retaining wall. This will be done using mafia blocks. these weigh 4000 pounds for full blocks that are 6 feet long 3 feet wide and 18" tall. and 2000 pounds for 3 foot long half blocks. The problem comes into play where there's not a lot of room around the pound for a large machine. and the smaller machines will have all they can handle to lift 4,000 pounds dilemma dilemma. Also found a nice piece of drift wood.

It's looking good! I love that you already have a chair in place for enjoying the pond!

Are you saying you plan to put another complete layer of underlayment over your liner?

Yes I have dogs, a golden and a cocker my neighbor has two labs and they ALL Love the water. And I will be placing rock throughout the pond between the claws the boulders and the UV/ sun , I figured i'd sandwich the liner. I understand it's inviting sludge to stick to the underlayment more so then if it was the rubber. it's one of the reasons I plan to use a snorkel/ centipede system instead of just 2" pvc and a foot of 3/8 river rock.

As to the chair there's issues i'm trying to work through.
The water level I would like to have leaves the water down 3" from the patio on the north side of the pond yet on the south it's 2" higher then grade. So I have to build something to except the height differences. yes I have the cinder block to work with but i'm leaning toward a tree trunk cut out/ a slot cut on the bottom and installed over the built up area.

That would be exactly my concern. I have nothing to back that up with, other than the thought in my head that liner is slick and underlayment is fibrous. Maybe someone else here has experience with underlayment in the pond.
