This gold fish has had a flapped gill ( don't know what caused it) for years, but it looks worse, like the gill is turning outward. I tried to catch him yesterday but he kept swmming away and I didn't want to get in the pond. Is my best defence, to catch and quarintine him and dose him with antibiotics till hes fixed? He's pretty healthy other than his gill flap turning outward, he's one of my pond pigs, hits the food before anyone else

It's not something you can "fix". Probably a genetic defect. There is actually a strain of goldfish (Outfolded Operculum) that has this defect bred into them!

That may explain why its more pronounced, hes getting bigger. He was born in my little pond a decade ago and i noticed this five years ago. Just ignored it but it looks more pronounced now, but hes getting bigger
Thanks
