Well, we have started to build our filter and and just need to test to make sure the seals hold before we install it. It is a 50 gallon stock tank that will be a skippy filter in our waterfall. Can't wait to see it in action (and the clear water). Also, got a wet/dry shop vac (9 gallon) from Home Depot yesterday so now I can suck the junk out of the bottom of the pond. It was on sale for $20!

just tried it out. Works great, fills up quick but if the drum were any larger it would be too heavy to manage. The perfect water changing goody!
What is the model number of the HD vacuum?
Maybe you could extend the volume of water before having to empty by doing something like this on a smaller scale....

Yet another great idea. I just wish I hadn't cut the top off my white 55 galon drum now.

We got most of the filter constructed but ran into some leaky seals so there is no way it is getting installed this weekend

On the package it says that they are biodegradable so I want to make sure they aren't going to break down right away. Found the same item at Walmart (smaller though) for $3.77
