When you say “gravel filters,” do you mean a bog filter? If so, there are a lot of things that you can plant. Do you have anything in mind?

If you mean a sand and gravel filter, that kind of filter doesn’t hold plants.

I believe your talking or asking about a bog filter? Just about any marginal or aquatic plant will grow in a bog its just a matter of taste and temp zone

Are you pumping water to the bottom of this area? yellow iris is a very aggressive grower. Where peacock irris and other grow half as fast and usually have as large. Do a google search for invasive bog plants and avoid those. but the faster they grow the better they work at keeping a pond clean and stable. i have blue sage, some variegated cat tale. elephant ear , obedient, a couple types of yarrow and a hyacinth

I’m going to go with mint, iris, canna lillies, and try some typical garden fruit and vegetables like tomatoes and melons. All depends on how my bog ends up laying out and where.

Water willow, creeping jenny, mint, obedient plant, marsh bentony, iris, lirope, lots of things do well in a bog.

I leave mine grow, by fall it is massive, easy to remove, but a great fall feed for the bees. They are all over it. I have land mint and bog mint.
