Just a heads up, If you have used or have my email address and you get a email that is from a Business investment, DO NOT OPEN, Delete and run a virus scan. I have not heard from anyone here but Addy and a few other may get this. My computer got hacked and we have been trying to clean it out all day. Finally decided it was better to clean out the hard drive and start from scratch. The virus is nasty and the hacker once in can take over the computer. My wife thinks she got it from a facebook app. It hit all the computers in the house including the TV! Geek Squad and Charter Communications have been working on it since noon. Charter was suppose to have their own security protection and they want to know how this got through. Geek squad said this is a new Virus and they aren't sure. I'm lost but found out a little while ago several of my contacts and friends saw the hack message and notified me. PLEASE BEWARE, IF it is from me DELETE, I have not emailed anyone on this site other than by PM through GPF.

Bummer, and thanks for the warning!

Hubby has all kinds of anit-virus software on the lap tops & big computer, but seems I do most of my internet stuff on either my iPad or iPhone. It's a scarey thought when you know that computers are a part of everything we do -- and how easy it is to lose so much information!!!!

Nothing here Larkin, I am safe. I never open those links imbedded in emails. You can usually tell by the send to list that it is a hack.

The other thing I did years ago, on the suggestion of an IT person, not sure if it still works, but so far not hacked. The first address in your address book, make it (e-mail address removed)

The hack program can't recognize it and gets lost, so they say. I also added [email protected] so far so good.

Larkin, It sounds like you got it fixed, but another good way is to enter system configuration in your search button and open that up and click safe mode and restart your computer in safe mode. Only essential functions run in safe mode so the virus would be disabled and can't protect itself from being removed when you run a full virus scan. The only other way it could hide would be if it was in a restore point in your system restore. Then you would have to delete all your system restore points as well.
