Hand feeding koi

Okay, so i have no problem hand feeding my koi and goldfish with treats, but when it comes to pond pellets, how should I go about hand feeding them, because as soon as I put my hand in the water, the pellets float all over the place out of my hand, and if I keep my hand cupped, they cant reach the food.

I made a feeding ring out of 1 inch PVC pipe. It works great, at keeping most of the food in one spot. It is also cheap to make.

You can see it in this picture. It's in the left corner. I also made one for my water lettuce.
