After too many events where we accidentally massacred our pets with chloramine, I found these mechanical flow timers. I've now got one on every outdoor faucet.

I just saw your post from last fall. This is exactly the kind of thing I have been looking for since I accidentally killed my Koi. Where did you find the pieces needed to do this? Can any regular plumber install this? Thanks Yvonne

Both the box stores have a timer but as excited as you may be and think this is the solution you have to remember that it's a machine it has moving parts that wear out. So it's not a matter of if it's going to stop working but WHEN this is why when I did use these I had two of them on the same line programed for the same time turn on and turn off. This way if one stoped working in a year or so you didn't kill the koi. The one the depot has is 60 bucks I think it was and one worked for three years the other only a year. And they attach right to the spigot so the hose isn't another issue waiting to blow up. My pressure is high here eve. With a regulator

Thank you for all the good info. I am going to Lowes and see if they have this. I don't understand the need for a timer though. If this is going on an outdoor faucet to filter out the Chlorine and other chemicals why would you need a timer? Couldn't you just put it on and leave it on all the time?

One it's going to become one heck of a water bill at least here it would be.nothing is cheap in ct.
2 it's only good for so many gallons to be honest I doubt it's good for more than a couple thousand gallons. I had a 3 foot canister filter in my camper plus others and I doubt those were for more than 20000
