LINUS, thanks! I think I read a similar article, but in the pics I looked at, the blooms looked more like an altered pink or mauve-ish color. Like they were trying to get a blue or purple, but just NOT QUITE there. Of course, pics & computer monitors aren't always accurate.

It took some thousands of crosses to get close to a purpley hardy which, minor snag did not reproduce, it might be a whiles before a blue hardy that does reliably make side crowns emerges.

Until then, there's umpteen of easy to grow blue and blue violet tropical waterlilies to play with

Hope the breeding is successfull. I love hardies. Blue is one color I've always wanted but never had. I don't do too much as far as tropical plants so this is exciting.
