I hear lots of people are doing that these days and have seen lots of pictures of beautiful pools that were turned into beautiful ponds. I think you would need to look at the pumps and look at the pump intake and see what kind of filter it has, cause you may have to fashion a mesh filter to stop little floating plants and fish from getting sucked into pump.

Hi, Welcome and good luck with your new pond. i would take it slow on adding fish until you decide how much you want to invest in filtration. You may want to look into a low tech solution by creating a bog next to the pond to do the filtration.

My pond started where we had a pool. The pool was 15x30 the pond ended up 25x35 which doesn't include the berm and stream area. The kids grew up and to pool wasn't used, the pond is enjoyed every day.

Welcome from Plymouth in the UK this will be an interesting project to monitor , have you any idea what fish you wish to stock your conversion pool/pond ?
May we suggest in a pond this size you stock it with koi ?
But then again after keeping koi these last 27 years we would say that
