My pond has already been started. It's about 500 gal (approx.) ,with koi and cichlids, running off a pump only. Heading to get a filter this weekend as my koi did not survive, but the cichlids are doing well.

Welcome, I do not think koi and cichlids will ever be a good mix. They have very different needs like temp and water chemistry
