Hello I tried to become a member a week ago but never got sent my approval email so I tried again tonight and it has seemed it is going to let me in :) Anyhow I am Amber from Avon,Indiana zone 5--I have a lined 1,000 gallon pond with a skimmer and waterfall. Koi and goldfish reside in my pond year round. I started with a 90 gallon preformed and the next year went to the 1,000 gallon lined. I am already wanting to go bigger :) I have had my pond for going on 4 years now and am so in love with it no matter how much work it seem to need at times. My two beautiful kids love it also, who doesn't love friendly fish :) When I can figure out how to post a picture I will. Thanks Amber

Beautiful pond, Amber! I'm a newbie, just getting ideas to do my first pond, and was interested to learn you started with 90 gal, went to 1,000, and now want to go bigger! I think that's the rule of the game, never can get pond too big.

Thank you Sissy, that picture was from last summer and I can't wait to see it that beautiful again. I have no idea why my fish do not bother my plants or frogs. I get tons of toad eggs in May that we just love to watch transform. My fish are begging to eat already but I know better :(

Yes I did a big water change this weekend and all the fish started following me around begging for food here also. Maybe in another week or 2 they will get a little food. I am going to start throwing in some lettuce for them to chew on as they want. But from the sun we have had off and on, there is plenty of algae for them to eat on right now. I need to check the water temp and see where it is.

My fish kill frogs .they are koi and the first time I saw them do it I freaked out lol .I pick dead frogs out every morning and it can be anywhere from 10 or 12 and more or less .My cousin Ellen lives in Indiana near the flood area .She is up on a small hill so she did not get water in her basement at all ,but her neighbors did .

Hey Randy sorry it just hit me that I actually knew you lol..have gotten some pretty nice fish off of you and I seen you had many more to sell this year. I will be downsizing my fish as my pond is too small for all of them :( I really wanted to build another pond but I am not sure it will happen this year so to be safe I will be finding some a new home. Anyhow I was just browsing and saw Indiana and Randy and it clicked ha ha..ready for spring!

LOL..It's a small world. Maybe in another week I can get out and get the show pools setup and start getting ready for pulling all the koi in a few weeks.
You'll have to stop by even though you are not going to be buying. Are you still trying to get rid of a couple of those bigger ones? Maybe I can steer some people your way. I will ponly have a few bigger ones to sell this year.

Yes I think I might have to part with some of the big ones as I do not want to end up killing them..I posted a few days ago on Craigslist for 5.00 for any of the small-medium fish no matter koi/goldfish,have lots of interest but I need to get them out of the pond first. Went and bought a 250gallon kiddie pool so I am just waiting on Indiana weather to make up it's mind as usual. How much are you asking for your larger Koi? Just curious as to what a good price would be. Thanks Amber
