We're redoing our garden, including a large square rendered-block pond, which we're just starting to commission. It's currently leaking, so until we fix that we can only fill it a little way. The first few plants are in, no fish yet.
We're hoping to do without a pump at all, by having few fish, lots of plants covering most of the surface, and plenty of gravel for the micro-organisms to live on. We have provision for a pump and filter off to one side, as a fallback if that doesn't work out.
We sealed it with G4, with glitter mixed into it to make it fabulous for the fishies.
Our builder (who is also our neighbor) has a plan to fix the leak next week, fingers crossed.
