Hi all, I’m Mike and I have kept cold water fish (in aquariums) for over 4 decades. I am disabled so my wife bought me a raised wooden hexagonal pond and it looks great. But, we are planning in getting a rectangle dug out in the garden(12’ x 4’),I was going to get someone to build cinder block sides and ends then line it with rubber pond liner. Would this work?

...or, you could dig the hole, buy some liner (EPDM+underlayment, or HDRPE and no underlayment probably) ands skip all the cost of the cement version! And the added benefit beside it costing a lot less, is it won't crack, and it'll give you 20+ years of not doing that! If you go concrete, make sure the contractor has experience with CEMENT ponds; it makes a huge difference.

Also, ever hear of LPS? Better to accept this truism than find out later you got it!

Welcome!

The basics of your plan seem good, but make sure to integrate filter ( Mabye even bog ) and pump sections into the design.
