Hi all,
I joined this group years ago, but after awhile and my pond was established, haven't been on here. I've had my above ground pond for at least 10 years. Been while, I forget! In all these years, my pond has never been green. It is now. I hopped on to see what everyone had to say. Here is a photo of my pond currently. Always kept about a dozen goldfish in it. Just replaced my pump. We had a really mild winter. I am in KY and it hasn't warmed up enough for the lilies to come out much yet. I have mini cattails, Flags, and a plant I do not recall the name of that blooms red! My pond looks great in the summer. Slow start this year...and that green water.

Welcome back! You do have the green water there! It's a lovely shade coming out of your cute pump!

I'm going to suggest you just wait and give it a chance to get into the swing of things - the plants will help a lot. Why green this year and never before? Maybe the warmer winter? Maybe the fish are bigger or more of them? Combination of both?

Can you add some additional aeration? An airstone or two might help. And remember the green water won't bother anyone but you... the fish don't care.

Hello
Yes once the plants get going should help clear things up.
Have you tested this pond lately
Mainly nitrates and phosphates I would check everything.
Another thing could be a build up of organics her the years feeding the algae.

Thanks, I went to the thread about green water and read to just wait it out. I did a partial water change a few weeks ago. Got some muck out of bottom. Yes, I can add some extra aeration.
