3rd death, all pond tests good. Looks like somting going on with the gills. 3700 gallon with pond easy pod, vortex and uv filter. I did a weeks worth of knock out ending yesterday and this happened today. Pond is 2 months old remodel from a smaller pond. around 20 fish largest about 10 years old.

Was there a problem with the fish before you used the treatment? Is that a road behind the pond? Is it possible there may have been a chemical sprayed from the road?

Why did you feel you needed to medicate the pond? Have you used it before? Were there any other chemicals or medications in the pond?

It's too circumstantial to me that the fish started to die just after using this product. My guess is that it burned their gills. Did you mix the medication in a bucket of water first or did you pour it directly into the pond from the bottle?

Oh I'm so sorry! I'm not familiar with this product, but I too feel it's too coincidental that your fish are dying after adding this to the pond. I know very little about fish health, but when you see gill damage you have to suspect water quality or something toxic in the water. You say the tests were "good" can you be more specific with actual numbers? Are you using a strip test or a drop test? Why were you using this product?

Your pond is so pretty!

The only "chemical" I use is dechlorinator when adding water.
I never use any chemicals...ever, no matter what...

If you have a sick fish, you should move it to a quarantine tank for treatment. Never treat the whole pond. I have never had to do this. I guess I'm lucky?

The first fish that died was a 16 inch butterfly 2 weeks ago. I had noticed him jumping and acting crazy but I thought it was spawn behavior. I noticed he didn't come out of the lilies to eat one day, the next day I found him floating dead. The next one was a small utsuri the next day. I then added the knock out meds that were supposed to deal with bacteria infections.

Ok , so amonia could be the culprit, too many fish? The amonia wasn't this high, i thought. yesterday. I don't think I'm feeding them too much, but its possible..thanks for the help. Would it have caused the gill damage on the 3rd fish? Should I add something to the water now to lower amonia? Thanks

How are the rest of the fish acting? I would stop feeding for now until you find out what is happening. The pond is only 2 months old and that is a big fish load for a new pond. Any chance that someone has been doing any spraying any chemicals nearby?

Ammonia can burn the gills, and nitrite can prevent the fish from taking up oxygen. But the numbers don't look high enough to cause that much damage that quickly, or to kill the fish in a few days time.

If you have Prime, it will bind the ammonia and nitrite and keep it from hurting the fish. But if your ammonia and nitrite are going up, there is something else going on. Your filtration isn't keeping up with the fish load, or for some reason the beneficial bacteria has taken a hit.

I don't know why the fish died so quickly after you first saw symptoms. What you describe would be, to me, more like flukes that are irritating the fish, not a bacterial infection. But flukes would also not kill them that fast.

If you go to Koiphen.com and ask there, you may find help there. Those are very knowledgeable folks who know much more about diseases than I ever will.

Best of luck with your other fish. So sorry this is happening.

Thanks so much for help. All the fish are acting normal right now. I think I need to relocate some of my big comit goldfish. I started out with 2 I had won at a carnival years ago and seems like every year 2 or 3 of their offspring avoids being eaten and survives to adulthood. I ordered a microscope from Amazon to check for parasites to be safe.
