I have a turtle pond , about 3 foot deep and 4 foot long. I have had to replace the pump at least 4 times this year! The last 6 months have been the worse. Been thru 3 pumps. I do not k ow what’s happening to make them go out. I clean them and have them in a box type filter to keep the turtles away.

Hello and welcome!

Can you tell us what kind of pumps you are using? Are you using any type filter, especially a pre filter ? Turtles are messy, messy critters!

Pictures help tremendously, But i would bet your pump is pulling in plant matter getting bound up making the pump work much harder thus burning out

This is the pump I have been buying and they are about 65$ it has the filter that I clean once a week. I have it in a screen type box so the turtles can’t get caught in it. I had a turtle get its foot caught in one

Ok. I’m thinking of making an outside filter for the pond. Do you think that will help?
