I just ran into this video on stream building. Best I've seen for this natural style of pond. It shows many aspects that you may have read about but is really clear in this video. Like running the stream before finishing the edge and how the edge is done. Rock size and placement, excellent. I'm not a huge fan of Aquascape type ponds, but these guys are very good at this look. This video is geared more toward Aquascape contractors I think, but still good tips for people planning a stream.

Made my pondless water features in the front yard the same way. My stream in the back I put it at a good elevation with the berms about 4" tall or so. Couple things I'm going to do different. Leave a couple of feet of liner on the sides in case I want to expand the stream or berms. Make berms a bit taller. As leaves, twigs, and algae buildup this will create small dams that will ever so slightly raise the water level in the stream; eventually several of these dams will cause the stream to overflow. Do best to clean the big debris but taller berms will give you more wiggle room whenever this occurs. Also, the depth, or height of water level, will really increase as you want to push more and more water down the stream.

With our steep slope I had to do a lot of uphill side, digging down to make a stream path. The biggest issue was getting the downhill side high enough to retain water. A bullet level was my buddy during the build.

Same reason you aren't getting the weather sticker I'm thinking. Do you have flash on your computer and do you have it set to allow it to run in your settings on your computer if you have it TM? Can you ever view you tube videos on this forum TM? If so then must be a glitch at you tube when you tried to watch it maybe?

OK, got the video! Nice stream. They make it look so easy.

But just ONCE I'd like to see a video where they don't have that nice, easy-to-dig dirt.....! Where instead of, "it only took us 3 guys an hour to dig this hole...." They have to say, "Gee, we been diggin' here for 3 days and this as far as we've gone. Guess it's time to bring in the dynamite! Wonder if the homeowner will mind?"

Just kidding, but I couldn't resist. :)

JW -- I think it was just a glitch, 'cause next time I tried was able to view the video.
