hi pond peeps! i'm Ax, from Seattle. i've been working from home for going on 5 months or something like that (since the pandemic blew up). i've been watching alotta youtube pond and water feature vids soon my second computer screen monitor for just about as long and staring into my empty backyard from my desk. well i got tired of staring at and taking care of my ugly grass and was inspired by the vids i've watched, so i started buying pond stuff and collecting materials like a month ago.

anyways i got started on my project over the weekend and now thought i would join a pond hobby forum to share our interests and get advice and stuff.

Think about filtering with a bog instead of a commercially bought filter. A bog was the ultimate greatest improvement I have ever made to my pond.

i'm building an ecosystem pond! i bought a small Aquascape pond kit but bought larger underlayment and epdm liner (both 15x20), so i can make a pond up to 11x16x2. i will have fancy goldfish, minnows and mosquito fish (and maybe a turtle). i will have the mechanical skimmer and biofalls/biological filtration but a bog/wetland filter addition is very tempting!

yep, i am not a smartie but i am here for the knowledge i hope to gain from others. already started asking questions: https://www.gardenpondforum.com/threads/what-is-this-big-pipe-and-big-concrete-block.27656 a bog is very tempting outta the gate but i will prop hold off on it for now mainly b/c i've already budgeted for the project and i wanna learn and grow from my experience from building and pond keeping.
