After being impressed with the appearance of some large lotus plants at a nearby nursey pond, I bought my first lotus tuber a few years ago. I got lots of beautiful leaves and even a couple of pretty flowers that year, but was really amazed at how that tuber multiplied. I don't have a real pond but instead mainly grow them in large containers scattered around the yard. It is always a thrill when a flower appears but I love the leaves just as much, as well as the frogs and toads that seem to magically appear. Greatly appreciate this site and the helpful people.

Welcome to our forum!

Fertilizer does help.

I have fish ponds that feed nice dirty water to the lotus tub. Not cleaned or touched in years, the litter stinks! But the lotus bloom great without adding fertilizer.
