Hi all,
Brand new to ponds, built it and it kept getting bigger from 6x6 to 18 x 7 . It was running for 2 weeks and then I added 4 small Koi and 2 trench to get the pond started..

Already found midge larvae in it and a couple of beetles doing the back stroke.

Plants in are bullreeds, crispa, mint and Lillies with more to come.

Water is No3 ...0
No2....0
GH......5
PH.......7.6
CO.?.....0
KH....about 6
Think they are ok but expecting them to change over the next week or so as it's so new.

Steve

Sissy do you have pictures of your fish anywhere on this forum. I'd love to see pics of large koi.

Hi - I am new myself on this Forum - also Scotland

Great looking pond! :)

Looking at building a similar first pond for my growing goldfish.

If you don't mind answering a few question on the build like :

what type of liner was used and where it was brought?

The paving/Rocks - looks great - where did you find these?

Filtration?

Lastly if you don't mind can I ask how much it rough came to for the pond build ? That would help to budget my own build.

Thank you

Hi all.
Sorry been away for a couple of weeks, sissy they koi are huge I hope mine get to be that size.
EBlade I used firestone rubber liner and this was the most expensive single item at about 320.Rocks from eBay about 180, pebbles were 64 a ton. 10000l pump and matching filter(pressure) with 10 litre/min air pump.
Used a micro digger for the hole and it's scary how much dirt there was, it would off taken weeks to hand dig it.
Remember I'm a complete novice at this and this site will give you better advice than me.
What I have found is that a pond is like a mini family it takes your time as well but it's worth it.lol

Welcome. You will enjoy this forum as a new pond owner. Be sure to read up on pond cycling and the phases it will go through. Its a little early to see any changes just yet.
