Welcome from the South West of the country you'll soon get used to it.
There are a few basic rules to successful fishkeeping constant water testing , maintnance of your pond and filters along with regular water changes .
Remember to Quarentine your new fish dont overfeedand dont overstock your pond keep to these and yo wont go wrong .
Last btut not least and just as important buy books on the subject and read them 27 years down the line we still use these rules and run a successful koi pond
