Hi,
I read on the rest of the infallible internet that horsetail will survive submerged in as much as 4" water. The existing shelf where I'd like to place them in my koi pond would leave these submerged about 8 inches. Has anyone seen horsetails survive in such deep water. (The horsetails are currently sitting in a black plastic pot in the water fall - this works fine but is not very aesthetic....)

Fill the 8 inches with 4 inches of rock . Place your pot with the hourse tail with a few 1 to 2 inch rocks in the pot leave a little room it will find the voids I assure you. . It would prefer 4 inches of mud, Over water.

Ah, it's a shelf on butyl pond liner. Okay, I think can put a large clay flower pot on the shelf, then fill with gravel to the correct height then put the horsetail in another pot on top that...

I second that motion.

Keeping this one in the pot isn't a bad idea - horsetail can be a garden bully.
