Hi Everyone,
I have a question about my filter pump and hose. I replaced a pump that uses a hose size of 11/2" to 2". This pump goes to my whiskey barrel to filter the pond. The old pump had a 1 1/4" hose attached. When I started up the new pump and hose, it was too much water going into the barrel, so it overflowed the top. My question is, do I reduce the hose size, or will that damage the pump. I thought about drilling holes in the hose underwater where it comes out of the pump until it flows at a safe level. I just need some ideas from you pond experts to figure this out. Thanks for the help!

Always use the biggest pipe/hose you can fit and afford. If your pump is too powerful, choke it down with a valve or place a wye fitting on the output with a valve on each output so you can control flow on both outputs.
